Nava Steinmetz was born in 1963 in the city of Rehovot. She is married with three children and currently lives in Raanana.
The fire of giving and creation has burned in Nava since her early childhood. As a child she loved to paint, sculpt and knit for every festive occasion (holidays, birthdays, anniversaries), reshaping her parents’ home and creating handmade gifts.
In high school she studied fashion design and sketching and after her military service, she opened a DIY fashion accessories store, specializing in applications and necklaces for brides and special events.
After her marriage, Nava moved to Raanana and made a career change to shop window and exhibition design. Her many customers included the “Givony” company – leather products, “Olivia” – women’s’ lingerie and others.
In 1998 Nava opened a store specializing in gifts for men at the Ramat Aviv Shopping Center. At the same time, she continued to paint and search for innovative, original ideas to replace the corny gifts that included pens, sculptures, games for executives and tables stands.
“When I had to buy a gift for my husband’s doctor, I came up with a cool idea for a unique gift. I decided to build a miniature model of his clinic room. I built a reduced version of the room – 14 X 19 cm. and 7 cm. in depth, inserted a small table and chair that I made, placed a miniature computer and keyboard on the table, added a stethoscope, a cup with pens and blood test results. I also added a book shelf; miniatures associated with his area of expertise and stuck photographs and a diploma with his title to the wall. I added the doctor’s name to the table, attached a thank you note to the front of the desk, framed it with a wood frame and gave it to him as a gift.
I have never seen someone so excited in my life. The doctor was extremely pleased with his gift and said that he finally received a present with sentiments that suits his profession.
His enthusiasm encouraged me to develop the area and since then, I have continued to design miniatures for various professionals”.
Nava creates the miniatures at home and sells them to galleries and selected gift stores or by direct order through her website.
